MissionSankusem-Ghana was founded in 2008 as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). We support and promote the creation and performance of music that fuses African traditional forms with Western classical forms and instruments. In pursuing our mission we are delighted to have the support of the Ministry of Chieftancy and Culture, Ghana. We are also extremely honored to have Professor Alexander Kwapong, and Professor Kwabena Nketia serve as our patrons. We look forward to a wonderful partnership with our sister organization in the United States (Sankusem Inc.) and to welcoming an international contingent of performers to Ghana in 2012, for a series of concerts featuring African composers. |
History Sankusem-Ghana presented a piano concert to launch our activities in Ghana. this event occurred at the British Council in Accra, in December of 2009. We also presented a workshop in January, 2010, celebrating the piano works of Professor Kwabena Nketia. In presenting these programs, we partnered with The National Theater of Ghana as well as members of The University of Ghana Music Department. |
